提起NYC SOUND, 大家通常会想到什么? SADOWSKY? FODERA? 当然, 不能忘记AGUILAR 这个名字......这个座落在SADOWSKY 隔壁的年轻公司, 在最近的10多年来, 为BASS手提供了一流的放大设备, 包括大家熟知的 GARY WILLIS, JOHN PATITUCCI, NATHAN EAST, JACK CANDSY, GERALD WESLEY, WILLIE WEEKS 以及 MARCUS MILLER, MESHELL NDEGEOCELLO, JASON NEWSTEAD 甚至BOOTSY COLLINS, FLEA 等等, 横跨流行/摇滚/FUSION/JAZZ的众多职业BASS手都在使用AGUILAR 的设备, 包括PREAMP, POWEAMP, CABS 以及DI 等等, AGUILAR 俨然成为了NYC的乐器音响制作行业(准确的说是BASS音响制造行业)的最具代表性的品牌

提起AGUILAR 的历史, 我们要回到1987年, 象我们熟知的 SADOWSKY, FODERA 一样, AGUILAR 也是一位可以载入乐器音响制造业史册的人的姓氏, 这个人就是 ALEX AGUILAR. 不同于NYC其他的乐器音响制作者, ALEX应当还是一个受人尊敬科学家, 因为开始的时候, ALEX AGUILAR 就在著名的BELL LABS 工作, 1987年一次偶然的机会, 他通过朋友见到了 JAY BLACK( SADOWSKY公司的人 ), 应邀帮助 SADOWSKY 设计一款可以使用电池驱动的PREAMP, 这就是后来风靡业界达10几年之久的 SADOWSKY PREAMP 以及 SADOWSKY OUTBOARD PREAMP, 而SADOWSKY OUTBOARD PREAMP 更是开创了OUTBOARD PREAMP 的先河, 使一种新的音色观念深入人心, 更引发了无数厂牌的竞仿, 而SADOWSKY OUTBOARD PREAMP 在经过了10几年的考验后仍然是最受欢迎和尊敬的OUTBOARD PREAMP, ALEX AGUILAR 功不可没.

在1991年发表了 SADOWSKY PREAMP 后, AGUILAR 就在SADOWSKY 隔壁开了一间属于自己的乐器音响定制与维修店. 这时候, DAVID BOONSHOFT, 一个ALEX AGUILAR 在帮助SADOWSKY设计 PREAMP时候结识的NYC 著名SEESION PLAYER, 来向ALEX 抱怨没有好的音响设备可以满足他录音与演出的需要. 于是, 为了满足他的要求, ALEX 开始了新的研发工作, 不断的听取 DAVID 的意见, 不断的修改, 最终在1994年, 发表了 AGUILAR AMPS的第一款产品, 也就是历史上有名的那款型号叫做 DB680的 ALL TUBE PREAMP, "DB" 其实就是 DAVE 的名字缩写. 不同于其他的TUBE PREAMP的是, DB680 不仅仅在PREAMP电路上使用了电子管驱动, 在均衡电路以及效果器回路上一样大胆的使用了电子管驱动的电路, 所以被称做" ALL TUBE " PREAMP.

从DB680开始, AGUILAR AMPS 就代表了NYC 最高的BASS AMP 制作水准, 但是拥有极高的专业研发水平的AGUILAR AMPS 却只进行BASS有关的音响设计, 用ALEX 的话来说, 制作BASS音响是所有乐器音响中最具有挑战性的事情. 在前年, 也就是2004年, ALEX AGUILAR 放弃了一直被作为AGUILAR AMPS 的标志的全电子管电路设计, 推出了全晶体管设计的HEAD 以及COMBO, 也就是以他自己名字命名的 AG500 系列, 同它的电子管前辈一样, AG500拥有著名的 AGUILAR SOUND, 那种让人一听就能记住的温暖有力的低频以及细腻透彻的高频, 唯一不同的是保养起来比电子管电路要容易多了, 代言这个系列的则是当前BASS界最为重量级的一位大师, 他的名字叫做 JOHN PATITUCCI

除了那些PREAMP, POWERAMP, HEAD, COMBO, CABS 等等, AGUILAR 的其他经典产品还包括 DB900 电子管DI, DB924 OUTBOARD PREAMP( 被称做Sadowskyスタイルのプリアンプの完成系 ), 超低阻抗可以应付直录工作的OBP系列的三款BASS BULT-IN PREAMP
